Hello,
I did PhD in Virginia Commonwealth University. I have three first author and two second author publications.https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=en&user=GAcrqREAAAAJ&view_op=list_works&gmla=AJsN-F4k0nFfyV25zd06I55HVGPIN3OMYOBZzc8r-us0yh3yM-7J8lbaJK44n8x6kQZ_7RF3Ox-2QLazM5nWJG2-6qftbt8aLZF8-O1kq3ZsEnPQADFyBiGbciXAZfExGChwWowmADuZ2fm9_uNgpyFZHR6VZu-P3SSg4lrmS0Tmx18jW7gkI3w
Currently I am working in Cummins Filtration, same area as my PhD with a very good pay. I didn’t use my OPT as I filed my H1B immediately and got approved. Please let me know in which category i have to file and my wait time.
Thanks ,
Ganesh.

Hi Ganesh,
What is your country of birth? (the waiting times depend on that)
Speaking of EB1A and EB2-NIW, only the first category makes sense for the Indian nationals due to the long waiting times (currently, more than 11 years), see the link below. EB1A may become available in October or by the end of this year. However, in your case, the small number of citations may be an obstacle. In past, we recommended various ways to avoid this problem by, e.g., focussing on the recommendation letters, but the citations started playing a more important role since recently. The most logical course of action would be to contact an attorney for the first free consultation and monitor the situation with the citations.
You need to have at least 15 paper with citation crossing 200, if you have these then your chance of approval is great. The rules are very stringent for EB1B now. I know because i cross these bridges earlier.
As I understand, Ganesh has in mind EB1A or EB2-NIW, not EB1B, but I agree with you that the bar is high at the moment. Your figures with 200+ citations and 15 papers sound about right. Indeed, I recently witnessed EB1A rejections for cases with almost 1000 citations!
