DBA and Green card

Published Dec 2,2009 By GCforPhD

Question:

I came across your website while I was searching for information pertaining to green card application.
I am from India. I am completing my “Doctor of Business Administration” program in December ’09. My dissertation is in the field of risk management. I have successfully completed my dissertation.
Would I be ale to apply for green card without employer support? If so, should I wait to apply till I graduate in December? How long would this process take?
Hoping to hear from you
Answer:
Yes you will be able to apply without employer support if you do it in EB1A or EB2-NIW. Please read the USCIS requirements (on our page and else where) for the two categories. The best time to apply is whenever you feel confident that you have all the necessary requirements.

We have heard of people applying while on a F1 but we do not know all the implications. Most people apply while on a H1.
The following link has more information on how long it takes.
Please check back on the following page, where we will post an ebook with frequently asked questions.
Best of luck
