Approved EB1a. Applying with my husband. How long to wait for the interview?
Published Aug 29,2015

My EB1a petition got approved. I am petitioning myself and my husband is included as dependent. Today I got a notice that “we are ready to schedule your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status”. Several questions.
1. What to expect from the interview?
2. How long will it take to get the interview scheduled?
3. How long will it take after the interview to get the green card?
Thanks a lot!

Dear Maria Kazachenko
Congratulations on your EB1A approval and thanks for using our packet.
Generally I-485 interview is waived for most applicants. In some cases USCIS schedules an interview and as far as we are aware these interviews generally have simple questions. USCIS may ask questions about your or your husbands status, may request additional information etc. It is generally a good idea to carry all your original historical immigration documents, passport, and any other documents that you feel relevant. It is hard to say how long it would take to schedule an interview but the cases we are aware of were less than 2 months for an interview and another 2 months for getting a green card.
