Does federal funding award help in EB1A applications?

Published Jan 19,2023 By brs

I am currently a postdoc, and my PI is suggesting I apply for either NIH or NSF funding where I will be a Co-I. In a case where we secure funding, can this award be used to satisfy any of the EB1A criteria or they don’t make much difference?

Thanks.

The EB-1A category is intended for individuals who have risen to the very top of their field, and who have a record of sustained national or international acclaim. The EB1A category uses a multi-part criteria to evaluate the qualifications of applicants. The criteria are designed to assess whether an individual has risen to the very top of their field, and whether they have a record of sustained national or international acclaim.

Giving this, obtaining Federal funding can be a very positive factor in EB1A applications, as it can demonstrate that the individual has achieved national or international recognition for their work.

However, it is not the only factor that is considered in EB1A applications, and other evidence of the individual’s exceptional ability and achievements will also be taken into account.
