PhD student in agriculture science, can I apply now.

Question:
I am a second year PhD student in agriculture science. I did my masters in the United States. I have two peer reviewed publication, one publication as first author in a peer reviewed journal and another as a co-author published in a conference proceeding in a national conference. Both are published this year only (don’t have any citations yet). I am expecting three/four more publications by the end of my PhD. As far as awards is concerned, I am currently on a fellowship for my PhD program and I got one scholarship and a University wide fellowship during my masters program. I have attended seven conferences (three as first presenter) at regional, national, international level.
With all this information, do you think it is too early for applying for GC? I would appreciate your time response.
Thank you.
Answer:
It is probably little too early judging from just the information you provided.
However if the publications are exceptional and have wide ranging impact then you could apply now. In this case you should be aware of issues related to your F1.Please see the following post
With this said, it is never too early to start preparing for an application now. You can see the uscis requirements and some example petitions. This way you plan appropriately to build the right evidence.
Best of luck

I am a second year PhD student in agriculture and applied economics at Texas Tech University. I have a strong background in economics and applied economics with 20 years experience. I published several papers and also presented several papers in the conferences, at this time. At this time, I am research assistant in PhD program. I wanted to know, Do I eligible for applying Green card for PhD, and can I apply at this time.
Thanks
From your description, it sound like you should be able to successfully apply. Please make sure that you look at the USCIS criteria iin both the categories to see if you satisfy the salutatory requirements. In addition to these if you plan to apply in eb1a you would need to show that you are one of the top persons in the filed and your work has sustained interest c) the significant benefit derived from your participation in the national interest field of endeavor considerably outweighs the inherent national interest in protecting U.S. workers through the labor certification process.
If you have additional questions please feel free to contact us.
