Green card for PH.D. In English Literature

Hi

I am curious to ask this question. My wife wants to do a PHD in English Literature. As it is a non STEM disciplin would it be eligible for green card processing once she finish her PHD?

USCIS does not narrow down the set of disciplines to STEM – it can be also arts, education, business, athletics, etc. It is just a more straightforward procedure in case of STEM. Speaking of the self-petitioning, simply having a PhD degree does not guarantee a success in obtaining the permanent residence. She should be able to show that she is either at the very top of the field and her achievements were recognized by the community for a certain period of time (EB1A) or her work is in the area of substantial intrinsic merit and important to the national interests of the United States (EB2-NIW).
