How strong are my credential foe EB1A

Published Aug 22,2017 By Niyati

I have 5 publications with 3 first author and my work is cited 47 times . I have reviewed 6 -7 journals. I have been judge for poster session as well in a conference. Do u think i can apply for EB1A category or should I wait to get more citations.

Hi Niyati,

Number of citations is a simple (but not necessary) indicator of a sustained acclaim of your achievements. If you can show that the this number of citations is caused by a small number of people in your field or simply by the fact that the (extraordinary) results you obtained are so new that there was not enough time to accumulate the citations, then you can use reference letters to explain importance of your work and how it is widely used. Please keep in mind that one has to focus on the USCIS criteria (see the link below) rather that just formal metrics. There are circumstances in which the metrics you provided would lead to a successful EB1A case. Please feel free to ask any further questions in this thread.

Hi,
I have 5 publications and one book chapter (four first authored and one co-first authored and one second authored). I have 150 citations total (100+ independent). i have also reviewed 70+ articles for 20+ journals. What are my chances for EB1a. Please share.

If the journals where you published as the first author are recognized internationally, then you have a good chance of obtaining EB1A. In this case you may qualify for at least 3 criteria set by USCIS, i.e.:
[*]Evidence of your original scientific, scholarly, artistic, athletic, or business-related contributions of major significance to the field
[*]Evidence of your authorship of scholarly articles in professional or major trade publications or other major media
[*]Evidence that you have been asked to judge the work of others, either individually or on a panel

If those citations were acquired within the past several years, then you will be able to show the sustained acclaim and recognition.

Depending on your present and past affiliation, as well as impact factor of the journals for your first-author publications, you may also qualify for the
[*] Evidence of your performance of a leading or critical role in distinguished organizations

Hi thanks for your reply.
All journals where I published are internationally recognized. All of them have impact factor over 5.

Additionally these 150 citations have accumulated over past 5 years

Is this good you think ?

I have 18 publications (out of which eight are first authored), accumulated 283 citations and reviewed 26 manuscripts from eight journals. Do you think I have strong case for EB1A?

Thanks,
SJ

Yes, if those publications are in internationally recognized journals and the citations were mostly accumulated within the past several years, then you have a good chance of preparing a successful EB1A case.
