PhD

Published May 17,2018 By Chandra Neupane

Hi,

I have completed my PhD from one of the US Universities. I have one peer review publication and 10 conference abstract. I am submitting two papers in peer review journals. So far I have three citation and I am working as an adjunct instructor in a university in US. I am from the country eligible for EB2 NIW.

Is there any chance I can file file petition for EB2 NIW?

Chandra

Hi Chandra,

Having few citations makes obtaining NIW more difficult, but not impossible. Statistics from 2013 shows that 9% approved cases were with 0-5 citations (average was about 120). However, one has to keep in mind that this was 5 years ago and we don’t know how the situation is right now. It is important to have a compelling reason for the NIW, such as high importance of the conducted research to the national interests. It may, in principle, overweight the publication history.
